A quick run down on our week, while 2 of the kiddos are napping.

1.For the last couple of years a few moms and I have been getting together to read, and chat, and pray together. It’s a gift to me to be able to really dig into a few solid in-person relationships, especially at a time when time is at a premium. Our current read is In the School of the Holy Spirit by Fr. Jacques Phillipe. It’s short, which appealed to me right away, but I’ve been struck by how accessible it is. Fr. Phillipe manages to be both practical and down to earth while also maintaining the meatiness and depth that I love in a spiritual read. There is at least 1 highlight per page, and I’ve loved to how it’s spurred me to prayer. I’m finding myself reminding of lessons learned long ago that I had allowed myself to forget.
2. We’ve got our niece for a few days this week while her mom is at a board training, and it has been so lovely. Janie slides right in to our crew, and the only arguments that we usually have are G and Will fighting over who gets to sit closest to her. I did however underestimate the time I would need to get 4 kids out the door this morning, especially when they are just so excited to be together, so we were late to our homeschool field trip
3. And what a field trip it was! We have a local pet shop (Lou’s Pet Shop for you locals) that is AMAZING. I had no idea. Bunnies and giant tortoises wander the store, and they have all sorts of exotic animals. The owners are also a Catholic homeschooling family, so they did a special tour for our homeschool group. The kids got to learn about the animals, as well as pet and feed them. It was such fun. I’m sure we’ll be going back on the regular for visits, especially when the weather gets crummy and we need to get out of the house.
4. It’s officially November, which means Holiday Bazaar season, and my very favorite one is coming up this weekend. The Servants of God’s Love hold a bi-annual bazaar, and it is a gem. Every single one of the sisters is so dang creative, and the things they come up with are just gorgeous and not your usual bazaar items. You can check out their Facebook Page for more info on them and the bazaar. It’s a can’t miss if you’re in MI.
5. I know I posted a book list last week, buuuuut I just got a hold from the library I’ve been waiting on for weeks. Does anyone else put down their current reads when that happens? I find I often do, and I was so excited to get this one that I dove right in. It’s called Becoming Mrs. Lewis and is about the love story between C.S. Lewis and his wife Joy. I’m hooked.
6. We are hosting Thanksgiving this year at our new house, and I am so incredibly excited. It’s the one time of year that we get to see my brother and his wife and their cutie patootie little boy, and it sounds like my aunt and uncle will also be coming out. I really love this time of year. I’m on the hunt for gluten free Thanksgiving recipes, because my Aunt and cousin are both GF. So if you’ve got any favorites, especially for desserts, please drop a link!
7. Has everyone checked out Rebecca’s newest creations- coloring page cards? They print beautifully on regular card stock. My kids have been furiously coloring them, and G aims to give just about everyone she knows a card. Also- holy cards are still available for pre-order, so if you’ve been drooling over some of the book illustrations, make sure you snap some up.
Linking up with Kelly this week, so head on over for the other 7QTs.
Sounds like a fun, busy week.
Had somehow missed your book list; and have now added Accidental Theologians to my wish list.
It’s really quite good! You can also listen to it on the Hoopla app!
