As the new school year approaches (for most people, we started ours in May to accommodate new baby P’s arrival in September), I know that there are a lot of families who are considering homeschooling for the first time. In the spirit of sharing resources, I wanted to pull together a few of my posts on the topic, but also point you towards a couple of women with a lot more experience than I have.
My Go To Homeschooling Blogs
The first is Kelly Mantoan from This Ain’t the Lyceum. Her blog is a goldmine of homeschooling resources and quick wit (she is also just as delightful in person as she is online). She’s got a new homeschooling series up now that is full of advice for new homeschoolers.
My other go-to blog is Not So Formulaic. Ginny Kochis writes a lot about homeschooling 2E kiddos- kids who are twice exceptional, who might be gifted but also have ADHD or autism or a learning disability or anxiety, etc., etc., etc.. If you are considering homeschooling and you’ve got a unique kid- head over to her first. I have gotten lots of solid advice from her that has helped tremendously with homeschooling G, our own 2E kid.
