Stations of the Resurrection: 5 Ways to Pray Them with Your Children

Also known as the Stations of Light, the Stations of the Resurrection are a beautiful, but lesser known, Catholic devotion. They are the counterpart to Lent’s Stations of the Cross. In them, we walk with Jesus and the apostles from the Resurrection through the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

I love the Stations of the Resurrection because they offer my children and I the opportunity to learn more about what Jesus was doing after He rose from the dead and why He didn’t ascend to Heaven right away.

So how can we use these Stations of the Resurrection in our homes this Easter Season?

I’ve got 5 simple ways to pray with the Stations below

1. Stations of the Resurrection Montessori 3 Part Cards

Montessori 3 Part Cards are one of my very favorite ways to teach my children. I won’t go into detail here about why, I’ve got a great video tutorial all about them, so check it out to learn more.

I made my children a set of Stations of the Resurrection 3 Part Cards so that we can use them throughout the 50 days of Easter. You can download a copy too over at Payhip.

2. Read a Story a Day from the Stations in the Bible

Unlike some of the Stations of the Cross, these stations are all found in Scripture, which means you can find the stories and read them in their entirety.

Reading one story a day from either your family Bible or children’s Bible is a great way to keep the Easter celebrations going past Sunday.

3. Make a Stations of the Resurrection Garland to Decorate Your Mantle

Print a 2nd set of the Montessori 3 Part Cards, grab some ribbon or rope and some clothespins to make a DIY Resurrection Garland to decorate your mantle for Easter.

4. Memorize a Verse or Two (or 14 if you’re ambitious!)

Easter verses to memorize

While the Stations of the Resurrection tell a piece of a larger story, a key verse or two can be chosen for each one. These make for perfect recitation or even handwriting practice if you’re homescoholing.

For your convenience, I’ve included verses for each station in the printable pack over at Payhip.

5. Pray Them Each Friday

You can pray the Stations of the Resurrection just as you would the Stations of the Cross. The Archdiocese of Detroit has a beautiful set of meditations.

However you choose to use these stations, I hope they are a blessing to you this Easter!

  1. This is such a great idea! Sometimes observing Easter after our Lenten spiritual high can be difficult… This definitely makes it more achievable!

  2. Wow! I’ve never heard of these stations before. I also like that it’s a way to carry the intentionality of the Lenten season forward a bit. Thanks for the cards!!
